About the Workshops
These facilitation guides are designed to help academic developers, learning technologists, and educational leaders run structured workshops on assessment redesign in the context of generative AI. Both workshops are grounded in the principles and strategies of the 2026 Assessment Redesign Framework.
Each guide provides a full session outline with timing, facilitation prompts, and activity instructions. Participants leave with a informed redesign decision and a commitment to at least one structural change in their assessment practice.

Each guide is designed to be adapted to your institutional context, not followed prescriptively. Timings are suggestions; facilitators should adjust based on group size, discipline, and prior familiarity with the framework.
Recommended preparation: Participants benefit from some familiarity with the Assessment Redesign Framework before attending either workshop. The self-paced course can serve as a useful pre-reading or follow-up resource.
What Participants Should Bring
For both workshops, ask participants to come prepared with the following:
- One assessment they are currently responsible for (title, weighting, and intended learning outcome)
- A rough sense of how vulnerable that assessment might be to inappropriate AI use
- Any existing module or programme-level AI use guidelines from their institution
This preparation ensures that activity time is spent on genuine redesign decisions rather than on orientation.
